Bunkyo University Tuition Waiver for Self-supporting International Graduate Students
Students eligible for waiver

Students who fulfill all of the following conditions are eligible to apply for this waiver.

1. International student enrolled in a regular course whose status of residence is °»College Student°…

2. Student with favorable class attendance

3. Student who signs to confirm his or her enrollment each month

4. Student with favorable grades

5. Student who participates proactively in school events

 

However, students to whom the following apply are not eligible for this waiver.

°¶Student who is repeating a year (excluding cases in which the student is forced to repeat a year, such as illness)

°¶Student who receives tuition fees from a national government, local government, or other organization °¶Student who is determined by Bunkyo University as not suitable to receive this waiver (poor behavior, etc.)

Amount of waiver

30% of yearly tuition fees
*This waiver cannot be used for the admission fee or additional educational fees.
Bunkyo University Tuition Waiver for Self-supporting International Undergraduate Students

The goal of this system is to reduce the financial burden on self-supporting international students (excluding Japanese government scholarship students and foreign government sponsored students) who are having difficulty studying due to financial reasons, and to encourage their studies.

 

Students eligible for waiver

Self-supporting international students who possess the °»College Student°… status of residence, are enrolled in a regular course, and fulfill all of the following conditions are eligible.

1. Student who has earned all standard credits until the preceding fiscal year (excluding first-year students and transfer students in their first year of admission).

2. Student who is not receiving the Bunkyo University Scholarship for Self-supporting International Students

3. Students who is not receiving a scholarship, via Bunkyo University, from outside of the school that equals or exceeds the tuition fee waiver amount of the applicable fiscal year

4. Student who receives tuition fees from a national government, local government, or other organization

 

However, students to whom the following apply are not eligible for this waiver.

°¶Student who is repeating a year (excluding cases in which the student is forced to repeat a year, such as illness)

°¶Student who took a temporary absence from school (including a half-semester absence)

°¶Student who is determined by Bunkyo University as not suitable to receive this waiver (poor behavior, etc.)

Self-supporting international students in Bunkyo University graduate programs

*Excludes Japanese government scholarship students and foreign government sponsored students.

*In principle, excludes students who are receiving or are scheduled to receive scholarships provided by other organizations during the applicable fiscal year.
Number of recipients Koshigaya: 9 students, Shonan: 4 students (results from FY2015)

Bunkyo University Scholarship for Self-supporting International Undergraduate Students
Students eligible for waiver

Self-supporting international students at Bunkyo University in their second to fourth years.

*Excludes Japanese government scholarship students and foreign government sponsored students.

*In principle, excludes students who are receiving or are scheduled to receive scholarships provided by other organizations during the applicable fiscal year.
Number of recipients Koshigaya: 3 students, Shonan: 17 students (results from FY2015)
Amount 30,000 yen per month *This scholarship does not need to be repaid
Selection criteria Applicants who are recognized as having excellent grades and requiring financial aid to study

Supplementary remarks

Students who are selected to receive the scholarship are obligated to participate proactively in university events (volunteering, etc.).

If not, they lose their qualification to apply for the scholarship for the following year.

Students in Bunkyo University°«s Foreign Student Department

Qualifications for application

Students who fulfill all of the following conditions and are recommended by their class teacher

1) Student who is expected to graduate and enter an undergraduate or graduate program at Bunkyo University

2) Student who has a good attitude regarding his or her studies and excellent schoolwork

3) Student who is recognized as proactive, including participation in school events
Number of recipients A few students (results from 2015: 4 student)
Amount All or a portion of tuition fees *This scholarship does not need to be repaid
Bunkyo University Scholarship and Entrance Fee Exemption System for International undergraduate students
Eligible students

Selected from students who pass the Overseas Students Entrance Examination

However, students who pass the Overseas Students Specific School Recommendation Entrance Examination, Overseas Students Transfer Entrance Examination, or Foreign Student Department Recommendation Entrance Examination are not eligible.
Number of recipients A few students (results from 2015: 2 students)
Eligible departments Faculty of Language and Literature, Faculty of Information and Communications, Faculty of International Studies, Faculty of Business Administration
Amount

30,000 yen / month, waiver for admission fee (during first year of admission only)

*Students who are selected as international scholarship students cannot apply for the Bunkyo University Scholarship for Self-supporting International Students or Tuition Waiver during the applicable fiscal year.
