Foreign Student Department

The Foreign Student Department was established in April 1993 as a division of a Japanese language course from the Institute of Language and Culture. This department is designed to educate and train foreign students, mainly from Asian countries, for either one full year or one and a half years by offering Japanese language courses and helping them acquire basic knowledge about Japan. The purpose of training these students is to help them advance to higher educational institutions in Japan in the future, such as various faculties and graduate schools at Bunkyo University and other Japanese universities. Every year, some exchange students from New Zealand, Germany, China and South Korea take classes in the Foreign Student Department to acquire necessary skills as well. In addition, Japanese undergraduate students who want to teach Japanese language in the future learn knowledge and skills in this department. This course thus provides Japanese language and related curricula for foreign students for one year or one and a half years.
