The seminar will cover various topics concerning the teaching and learning of vocabulary in the second language. We will look into issues such as the structure of the mental lexicon, rich vocabulary instruction, vocabulary learning strategies, lexical networks in L2 and vocabulary assessment. Students will be expected to actively participate in the class and to demonstrate ability to interpret, analyze and critically evaluate ideas and arguments.
Focus will vary year by year, but general themes will deal with the use of images in the past and present, applications of technology in creation and dispersal of those images, and ways of analyzing and criticizing the images and their messages.
